Author and instructor, Rosalie Cushman, leads a new writing program titled “Writing to Heal”, at the Encincitas Community Center, Encinitas, CA. The course is modified from a larger individualized coaching program, “It’s All About the Journal: Words That Heal.” Designed for individuals 18 years of age and up, who seek to process and/or make peace with traumatic or distressing events in their lives, the program focuses on specialized writing exercises that identify and bring to the surface issues that have remained troublesome and unresolved, regardless of age, occupation and other therapeutic strategies.

In the course, Ms. Cushman will lead participants through targeted writing exercises within the class setting, followed by limited discussion about the processes and their benefits. There will be opportunities in subsequent and/or between class settings to review, edit and revise one’s work for clarity and personal evaluation.

The first series of exercises will focus on events themselves, with various points of view being written in subsequent class sessions. Preliminary exercises set the stage for following class sessions, delving deeper into issues. All exercises are designed to relieve and renew the individual, to work through, in some cases, life long events that have continued to impact their well-being.

The course is designed for any individual dealing with everyday upsets, life-changing experiences, substance abuse issues, for anyone who has experienced traumatic events or suffers from PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
